New Fashion-Forward Footwear from Aetrex Offers Patented Customization to Help Eliminate Foot Pain

New Dress, Casual and Athletic Lines Now Available in Retail Outlets

TEANECK, N.J., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- With everything we do all day, it's no wonder feet are subject to more injury than any other part of the body, and it's no surprise that more than 70% of Americans will have painful foot problems at some time in their lives. But that is all about to change with the introduction of a new line of dress, casual and athletic performance shoes from Aetrex, an industry leader in pedorthic footwear.

"We tailor our clothes to fit our body, we set the steering wheel and seat at a certain location so we are comfortable when we drive, and now our footwear can be customized," said Larry Schwartz, CEO of Aetrex and a certified pedorthist. "Footwear standards are finally being elevated to where they should be. There is now technology and fashion-forward footwear that provide customized comfort to individual needs, enabling everyone to feel great on their feet all day and prevent injury."

3 Unique Footwear Lines

In retail outlets for the first time is Aetrex's comprehensive footwear line, offering fashion-forward shoes in Dress, Casual and Athletic Performance styles. "The launch is significant because people throughout the world will finally be able to experience customized comfort without any sacrifice to style. All the styles feature the highest standards in comfort, breathability and performance coupled with the biomechanical benefits that we have developed over the past 60 years," added Schwartz.

Gramercy Men's Collection, Essence Women's Collection

The Gramercy Collection for men and the Essence Collection for women feature elegant and modern slip-ons and sleek, classic lace-ups with an exceptional hybrid of style, function and customization. All styles in these collections boast:

-- Luxurious, full grain leather uppers

-- Soft, breathable linings made from leather and hi-tech fibres

-- 1/4" removable depth to fit orthotics

-- Patented, Mozaic Customization Technology

-- Hi-tech Slip Resistant Polyurethane Outsoles

Athletic Performance Collection

The athletic performance collection includes ultra light-weight and sleek-styled runners, cross trainers and trail runners -- 15 designs for both men and women. This line combines Aetrex's unique pedorthic benefits, Mozaic Customization Technology, and advanced hi-tech materials and biomechanical features that provide the comfort, stability and shock attenuation needed during high impact activities.

3 Essentials for Customized Comfort

Like most modern lifestyle advances, this story really starts with a technological breakthrough. In 2002, Aetrex partnered with the Israeli software team that invented ICQ (instant messaging) and brought to market a patented, digital foot analysis system that instantly identifies an individual's foot size, arch type and pressure points by using over 5000 pressure sensors and infrared LEDs.

"There are three essential elements about our feet that we need to know if we really want customized comfort -- foot size, arch type and where our pressure points are," says Schwartz. "Only then can we truly identify the footwear products that are ideal for our needs."

3 Years of Intense Footwear Development

Three years ago, after Aetrex successfully launched the iStep and made it easy to identify the three essentials for customized comfort; the company believed it was at a critical watershed. Schwartz continues, "In 2005 we were recognized as the leading footwear and footcare company to medical markets such as podiatrists, orthopedics and veteran's hospitals. However, we always believed that consumers in the general public deserved access to the technology and biomechanical innovations that were benefiting the medical community." It was at that point that Aetrex began recruiting top footwear designers with the goal of launching a comprehensive consumer footwear program that would appeal to anyone concerned about foot comfort or injury prevention.

Finding & Customizing Aetrex Products

The collections are already being added by leading running and shoe retailers throughout the country. To find retailers that carry Aetrex products and feature iStep technology in their store consumers can visit and simply input their zip code. "We hope that everyone becomes more aware about their feet and understands that customized comfort is now an option for them. Innovations and technologies that were previously only available in medical markets are finally accessible to people everywhere."
