Introducing the FIRST RESPONSE(R) Digital Display Early Result Pregnancy
PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Good news has arrived for women looking for a "yes" or "no" answer to one very important question: Am I having a baby? The new FIRST RESPONSE(R)GOLD Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test features an easy-to-read digital display that tells a woman "Yes" if she is pregnant, "No" if she is not. The Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test is the first First Response Pregnancy Test to feature an electronic "ready to use" indicator, which confirms the test is ready for use.
"A clear 'yes' or 'no' response is sure to be a relief for women who are eager to find out if they are pregnant," says Lisa Masterson, M.D., a Santa Monica-based OB/GYN affiliated with Cedars-Sinai, St. John's and UCLA/Santa Monica hospitals. "The indicator showing that the test is working relieves anxiety for women; letting them know an accurate answer is coming soon."
Unlike other digital tests on the market, the First Response Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test uses a proprietary gold technology that is so sensitive it actually detects two different forms of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the pregnancy hormone, including the variant hormone that better predicts early pregnancy. The sensitivity of FIRST RESPONSE technology makes it possible to detect the presence of just 18 mlU of hCG in urine. And like the trusted FIRST RESPONSE Early Result Pregnancy Test, the Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test detects hCG up to five days before a woman's missed period.
According to Janis Biermann, Senior Vice President of Education and Health Promotion for March of Dimes, the sooner a woman knows she's pregnant the sooner she can begin a prenatal health regimen. "The earliest days of pregnancy are critical to a baby's development, and this is the ideal time for women to talk to their doctors, if they haven't already, about important prenatal health steps such as taking vitamins, exercising, and quitting smoking," she says.
The FIRST RESPONSE GOLD Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May, 2007 and will be available on drugstore shelves in early April 2008.
About the FIRST RESPONSE Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test
FIRST RESPONSE GOLD Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test works when a woman's urine comes in contact with a specially treated absorbent tip on the pregnancy test stick. After 30 seconds, the display screen indicates that the test is working by showing a blinking clock. After three minutes, a clear "Yes" or "No" response appears on the display screen, indicating whether the pregnancy hormone hCG has been detected.
FIRST RESPONSE GOLD Early Result Digital Pregnancy Test works up to five days before a woman's missed period. The test is more than 99 percent accurate from the day of a woman's expected period at detecting typical pregnancy hormone levels.
