New Dating Website Caters to Bariatric Community
Date:7/14/2014

Lewisville, TX (PRWEB) July 15, 2014

Between 150,000 and 160,000 people receive bariatric surgery each year. [1] Whether someone chooses surgery or another weight loss program, a healthy support system is proven to help dieters lose more weight, lose weight faster and make healthier lifestyle choices. Research also shows that online support is just as helpful as a person-to-person support network. [2]

But getting this support can be challenging for bariatric daters. Until now, there weren't many options for bariatric patients to meet, date and develop a healthy network of supporters. That has changed. BariatricDate.net just launched a unique and innovative platform for those who have undergone bariatric surgery to meet other people, develop sound relationships and enter their new healthy lifestyle with love and support from people who understand their challenges.

BariatricDate.net is a dating site, but also welcomes those who seek friendship and understanding souls. This site is the brainchild of a woman and her daughter who both have gone through the surgery. Members have access to chat rooms, forum groups and other perks just like ordinary dating sites, but in these groups people talk freely without worry about the issues unique to bariatric daters.

People who have had weight loss surgery face special challenges when it comes to meeting people and dating. Mainstream dating sites just don't offer what these people need in terms of connecting with similar and like-minded people. For example, bariatric daters need to be able to be open and honest about their stories with people who understand, such as what led to choosing surgery. They have to deal with issues that others don't have experience with, such as extreme portion control, body image issues and the roller coaster of emotions associated with going from obese to fit and healthy.
