New Cosmetic Trends Change the Face of the Australian Botox Market
Date:9/17/2008

Previously associated with glamourous celebrities and wealthy ladies of leisure, Botox is now evolving into an affordable non invasive cosmetic procedure as socially acceptable as the standard leg wax. No longer is a Hollywood film premiere the ultimate Botox occasion - recent trends have seen an increasing number of brides go under the needle before the big day, as well as people undergoing the procedure for the Christmas season and other events such as Spring racing carnivals.

Melbourne, VIC (PRWEB) September 17, 2008 -- Previously associated with glamourous celebrities and wealthy ladies of leisure, Botox is now evolving into an affordable non invasive cosmetic procedure as socially acceptable as the standard leg wax. No longer is a Hollywood film premiere the ultimate Botox occasion - recent trends have seen an increasing number of brides go under the needle before the big day, as well as people undergoing the procedure for the Christmas season and other events such as Spring racing carnivals.

Dr. Gavin Chan of the Victorian Cosmetic Institute estimates that approximately 15 per cent of his http://www.thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au/anti-wrinkle-injections/ [Botox] clients undergo the procedure for special occasions such as weddings, major racing days and even family reunions and funerals.

"One lady came to me for her first Botox experience because she was about to go to a funeral of one of her extended family members. She knew there would be a lot of her relatives there, most of which she hadn't seen for sometime."

"On the day she got so many compliments about how good she looked that she was quietly happy, even though it was a funeral," says Dr. Chan. However, Botox for funerals is generally not common."

A more popular trend that continues to grow is "bridal Botox", with an increasing number of brides requesting lip enhancements and facial Botox injections prior to their big day. Dr. Chan says, "I usually see a couple of brides per month, most of them after lip enhancements and facial Botox treatments."

As far as Botox specifically for special occasions goes, Dr. Chan says there is a distinct peak season, "The Highest seasons are definitely around August to November - the second half of the year is always busier than the first."

"However, special occasion Botox can be in demand at any time of year - I see a few clients who come in just once a year to treat themselves for their birthday," says Dr. Chan.

The increase in Botox's popularity has seen the treatment used for an increased range of procedures, such as injections into the armpits to prevent excessive http://www.thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au/hyperhidrosis/ [sweating]. This is another popular treatment for brides to be who don't want to worry about sweat marks on their wedding day.
Another interesting trend is the amount of younger people undergoing Botox treatments. "Botox is not only popular for people wanting to eliminate wrinkles," says Dr. Chan, "An increasing number of clients are getting Botox at a younger age to pre-emptively prevent http://www.thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au/wrinkles/ [wrinkles] rather than to fix them."

It is currently estimated that Australians consume more Botox per capita than any other country.

The Victorian Cosmetic Institute has two locations in Melbourne, Australia and features a team of specialised cosmetic doctors, and nurses. The Institute uses the latest research, products and technology to provide patients with the most up-to-date techniques and specialises in non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments. Popular treatments include anti wrinkle injections like Botox and Dysport, laser based treatments like http://www.thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au/ [hair removal], ipl rejuvenation, dermal fillers, lipodissolve and other http://www.thevictoriancosmeticinstitute.com.au/ [cosmetic surgery] procedures.
