New Book Gives Physicians the Business Know-how to Find the Right Medical Practice
Date:2/23/2010

Greenbranch Publishing announces The Physician's Guide to the Business of Medicine: Dreams and Realities by Jeffrey T. Gorke -- the must-read playbook that maps out the business realities physicians (and practice administrators) must understand in order to identify, seek and find their "dream" practice.

Phoenix, MD (PRWEB) February 23, 2010 -- Whether just starting a medical career or seeking to join a new practice, no physician can afford to take job offers at face value. Unfortunately, medical school doesn't always equip newly minted physicians with the business know-how to look at financials, organizational structure, and cultural dynamics to see what's really going on inside a practice. Now, Greenbranch Publishing fills this gap with its just-issued book, The Physician's Guide to the Business of Medicine: Dreams and Realities (paperback, 176 pages, ISBN: 978-0-9814738-0-2, price $76 www.greenbranch.com)

Author Jeffrey Gorke distills his 20 years of practice management expertise into a step-by-step guide physicians can use to define their expectations -- location, compensation, work-life balance, and the freedom to practice medicine -- and ask all the right business questions to make the right career move.

With America's aging population, demand for physicians continues to rise. "That's why," says Gorke, "this book isn't about whether you can find a job, but how to find the right job. And that means looking beyond what the practice promises -- because you can count on the fact that patient encounters per physician will continue to grow, the workload will increase, and certain stressors will leach into your life. So given those realities, the book helps you find a practice that will come closest to helping you realize your dreams of practicing medicine."
