New Best Drug Rehabilitation Blog Post Highlights 7 Effective Non-Drug Ways to Cope with Stress

(PRWEB) September 11, 2014

In its latest blog post, Best Drug Rehabilitation, which offers treatment programs and believes that having family close by during a stay in rehab can make a big difference in whether or not the process is successful, is highlighting 7 effective non-drug ways to cope with stress that were suggested by members of its Twitter community.

“Many people turn to drugs as a means to cope with stress, but discover – sooner or later – that it’s not a solution; it’s a trap,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation’s CEO Per Wickstrom. “It’s my hope that this latest blog post will introduce people to some powerful stress-beating alternatives and options, and help them steer clear of a slippery slope that can, and unfortunately does, often lead to abuse and addiction.”

According to Best Drug Rehabilitation, 7 effective non-drug ways to cope with stress suggested by its Twitter community include:

1. Talking to a trusted friend or, even better, a licensed therapist, counselor or other health care professional who can provide compassionate advice – or sometimes just an invaluable shoulder to lean on during a difficult time.

2. Keep a journal to capture free-flowing “mind dumps” throughout the day. This writing can be destroyed at the end of the day, or kept in a file for future reference and reflection.

3. Get organized by de-cluttering one space or one room at a time. If the disarray is significant or the energy to de-clutter is low, even starting with something small – like re-organizing CDs or tidying up a desk – can be helpful.

4. Get in touch with nature by going for a walk and paying attention to the sky, birds, flowers, trees, and other natural stress-reducers.

5. With a doctor’s approval, get some exercise – which can including anything from a brisk walk to a rock climbing adventure, and anything else suitable, fun and healthy.

6. Have the courage to “just say no” to friends or family members who are causing stress.

7. Meditate to reduce and interrupt stressed thoughts that cycle through the mind.
