New Best Drug Rehabilitation Blog Post Focuses on 5 Reasons Why Relapse Shouldn’t Stand in the Way of Recovery

(PRWEB) September 30, 2014

In its latest blog post, Best Drug Rehabilitation, which offers treatment programs and believes that having family close by during a stay in rehab can make a big difference in whether or not the process is successful, is focusing on 5 reasons why relapse shouldn’t stand in the way of a successful, lasting recovery.

“Achieving sobriety is not a one-time event, like reaching the finish line of a marathon,” commented Best Drug Rehabilitation’s CEO Per Wickstrom. “It’s an ongoing process and a lifelong commitment that will be relatively easy on some days – and somewhat tougher on other days. It’s my hope that our latest blog inspires those who are thinking about getting the help they need, or are currently participating in a medically-supervised treatment program on either an inpatient or outpatient basis.”

According to Best Drug Rehabilitation, there are a variety of reasons why relapse occurs, including (but not limited to):

  • Quitting a treatment plan
  • Lack of strategies for dealing with stress, anxiety and pain
  • Not having a supportive -- and obviously drug-free -- peer group
  • Not investigating the roots of addiction
  • Experimenting with a “small amount” of drugs
  • Believing that an extended period of sobriety has created a resistance to relapsing

Despite these issues and obstacles, addicts who in the process of recovering or have graduated from a rehab program should keep the following 5 things in mind if they end up succumbing to a relapse:

1. They aren’t alone, and help is available.
2. Learning to live sober takes time.
3. Relapsing isn’t failure – it’s part of the journey.
4. They can use the opportunity to spend more time with loved ones and those who offer support.
5. As long as someone is alive they can pick themselves up!
