Date:6/19/2012

Mannheim, Germany (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

ScienceIndex.com is a Anthropology Sciences social network established in 1998 to index the very latest news, headlines, references and resources from science journals, books and websites worldwide. The site covers news in all fields of biology, business, chemistry, engineering, geography, health, mathematics and society. In the field of Society Sciences, the site has now included the two new categories Anthropology and Archaeology. While the Anthropology category covers the origins, physical and cultural development, biological characteristics, and social customs and beliefs of humankind, the Archaeology category covers historic or prehistoric peoples and their cultures by analysis of their artifacts, inscriptions, monuments, and other such remains.

ScienceIndex.com's Society Sciences Category covers the totality of social relationships among humans. Its twelve subsections include Anthropology, Archaeology, Arts, Education, Family, History, Law and Crime, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy, Politics and Religion. Users can receive alerts if new content has been posted in this category by subscribing to ScienceIndex.com's Society RSS feed.

ScienceIndex.com's Anthropology category covers the origins, physical and cultural development, biological characteristics, and social customs and beliefs of humankind. It currently contains 1,987 articles partly derived from 35 scientific journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through an Anthropology Sciences RSS feed. One of the latest additions in this category covers complex market exchange in the Maya area prior to the so-called Postclassic "mercantile" period. The authors conclude that classic era Maya had highly complex market exchange systems with well developed occupational specialization and access to valuables for Maya commoners. Residents of Maya cities were heavily dependent on regional supply networks for goods used in daily life. While Maya governing nobility helped to organize ancient markets they did not monopolize them. Another recently published article in this category evaluates how African American professional men negotiate the impact of racism on their career development. The authors examined P2P locality to address the challenge of traffic pressure to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) over inter-ISP links. Their findings reveal that African American professional men experience repressive structures due to gendered racism, which impacts their careers in ways that are different from their White male counterparts and African American professional women.

ScienceIndex.com's Archaeology category covers historic or prehistoric peoples and their cultures by analysis of their artifacts, inscriptions, monuments, and other such remains. It currently contains 2,856 articles partly derived from 34 scientific journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through a Archaeology Sciences RSS feed. One recently included article in this category asks whether the World Heritage label is used as a promotional argument for sustainable tourism. The authors conducted a quantitative and qualitative study of web site content created by local, regional and national Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) representing 12 organizations of World Heritage Cities member cities. They stress that this paper is the first insightful study of the World Heritage label usage as both a promotional argument and means of enhancing sustainable tourism practices. Another recently published article provides an analysis and an optimization model of the spatial impact for the externalities derived from urban regeneration and rehabilitation of degraded and segregated historic heritage areas. The authors' model enables one to better address priority areas of intervention inside a historic heritage urban area and to better achieve sustainable urbanization by providing a more equitable and efficient managing of resources.

ScienceIndex.com currently contains over 1.56 million stories distributed among 75 categories. 77,077 users monitor 9,746 journals covering the broad spectrum of sciences.
