Neuromarketing Firm Buyology Inc. Receives Investment from Hakuhodo Inc.
Date:4/22/2009

NEW YORK, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Buyology Inc. announces it has received a strategic investment from Hakuhodo Inc., one of the largest marketing services groups in Japan. Located in New York City, Buyology Inc. is a private marketing neuroscience firm dedicated to the science of rigorously measuring and managing non-conscious decision-making and buying behavior to produce business insights and solutions. The company owns the world's largest proprietary database of brain scans that was started by Buyology Inc. Chairman, Martin Lindstrom.

"Hakuhodo's investment in Buyology Inc. demonstrates the strategic alignment between the two companies to rapidly expand the application of non-conscious tools to measure and manage the emotional dimensions of decision making. Neuroscience is rapidly understanding that emotion trumps logic in buying decisions and today business is not effectively tapping into 85% of what really drives customers', employees', shareholders' and other key influencers' choices and decisions," said Gary Singer, CEO of Buyology Inc.

According to Hiroshi Tanaka, Corporate Officer of Hakuhodo Japan, "Among the worldwide advertising industry, Hakuhodo is unique for having its R&D function under the corporate philosophy of 'Sei-katsu-sha (life living people)' for more than 30 years. We understand that by partnering with Buyology Inc., exploring marketing neuroscience is tantamount for us to dig deeper into our corporate philosophy: by understanding more about Sei-katsu-sha, not only at the conscious level, but also at the unconscious level, we expect to deliver more effective, Sei-katsu-sha oriented solutions for clients."

Details of the investment were not disclosed.
