Naturopathic Doctor Elie Klein Releases New Book, "Read This if You Have a Heart"
Date:9/17/2013

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) September 17, 2013

Thanks to a new book and upcoming Healthy Heart seminars by Dr. Elie Klein, B.Sc., ND, individuals who are struggling with diabetes and cardiovascular disease can take advantage of a natural approach to solving their problem.

Klein, a naturopathic doctor and health educator, recently released a book entitled "Read this if you have a Heart, the Book on Lowering Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Blood Sugar Naturally." The book dispels common myths about cardiovascular disease and maintains that heart disease and diabetes are often preventable. Yet, Klein says, the number of diagnosed cases of heart disease, particularly coronary disease, and diabetes keeps escalating.

According to Klein, high animal fat and salt intake are believed to be dietary factors contributing to cardiovascular disease. He says: "Despite reductions in animal fat intake and no changes in salt intake over the past several decades, cardiovascular disease is still a leading cause of disability, diminished quality of life and death in the world. There are some pervasive misconceptions about the perceived causes of cardiovascular disease and diabetes and ignorance about the true causes of and ‘cures’ for this epidemic."

However, Klein seeks to set the record straight in "Read this if you have a Heart." He reveals his concerns about commonly prescribed drugs for blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes. These concerns, which include achy and stiff joints, muscle weakness, fatigue, poor sleep and digestive problems, typically go unreported. Unfortunately, the symptoms produced by these drugs are either associated with the aging process or are not recognized and reported by doctors to the Public Health Agency of Canada.

"Read this if you have a Heart" forms the foundation of Klein’s Healthy Heart program, which helps to educate and guide people in their efforts to reduce and reverse risk factors related to cardiovascular disease. The non-traditional program consists of six, bi-weekly classes in various locations around the Greater Toronto Area, as well as online. Sessions will be held at the Centennial Building Community Centre at 7 p.m. on September 24 and October 1; the Mississauga Public Library at 7 p.m. on October 3 and 10; and the Miles Nadal Community Centre at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 and 15.

Klein’s Healthy Heart program is distinctive in that it is one of the only known educational initiatives designed to successfully address the leading cause of premature death—cardiovascular disease. His book and life-changing educational seminars focus on a compelling issue that impacts a large segment of Canada’s population. Two thirds of Canadians over 65 take a minimum of five prescription drugs, three of which are for cholesterol and blood pressure. However, Klein offers a more pragmatic way to address cardiovascular disease and its risk factors.
