Naturecast Pets revisits New Study from University of Adelaide that may Help Dogs with Arthritis
Date:12/5/2012

Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) December 05, 2012

According to the University of Adelaide Veterinary Professor Gail Anderson, Veterinary anesthesiologist Margie McEwen, and Nextvet’s Chief Scientific Officer Professor David Gearing have been working on a study that would help drastically improve all activity in dogs with arthritis. They are currently doing studies on dogs with arthritis to see how well this drug will work. Recent releases indicate the studies are going well thus far.

Arthritis is a very common disease that is found mainly in older dogs was further discussed on November 7, 2012. Arthritis typically irritates the joints and bones in animals due to cartilage being damaged within the joints. Some of the most common affected joints are hips, elbows, shoulders and the backbone.

Limping, abnormal gait, pain when being touched, excessive licking or chewing certain painful areas and difficulty with getting up or sitting down are all signs that arthritis might be starting to set in. X-rays and examinations are the most typical ways to diagnosis arthritis in a dog. Once arthritis signs have been made in a dog and after a trip to the vet, there are ways to help keep the arthritis to a minimum and prevent sever cases of arthritis. Soft bedding, daily exercise, supplements and anti-inflammatory medications are all ways to help keep the pain away and keep dogs as comfortable as possible.
