National Partners from St. Jude Halloween Promotion Presents More Than $1.7 Million to Help Fight Childhood Cancer
Date:12/5/2007

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National partners from the 16th annual Halloween Promotion benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R) presented more than $1.7 million of the projected $4.8 million donation to the hospital today to help in the fight against childhood cancer. Companies represented at the check presentation included A&P Family of Supermarkets, Buffalo Wild Wings, Casey's General Store, Fox & Hound, Hess Corporation, Petro Stopping Centers, Saladworks and Coors Brewing Company. More than 12,000 business locations participated in the promotion this year.

"I'm proud to say that we've had our best year ever in this promotion," said Walt Henry, field marketing director, Coors Brewing Company. "And, we couldn't have done it without the support of our employees, distributors, retailers and supporting partners. It's been a great 16 years, and we look forward to finding more creative ways to enhance this partnership."

During the month-long Halloween Promotion, held each October, participating businesses encouraged patrons to donate $1 to St. Jude by purchasing a pumpkin-themed wall pinup. Since the promotion's 1992 inception, more than $33 million has been contributed.

"The St. Jude Halloween Promotion is evidence of what can happen when you partner with businesses that embrace the mission of St. Jude," said John Vranas, senior vice president, ALSAC. "What started out as a grass-roots fundraiser 16 years ago has now developed into a national promotion, and, we truly appreciate the support we receive from Coors and the many businesses and customers that have come on board to help St. Jude continue its life-saving work. $1 really can make a difference."

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.
