National Network of Digital Schools, SlateXP and UMPS CARE Raise $75,000 for Children

BEAVER, Penn., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Network of Digital Schools (NNDS) and SlateXP, in partnership with UMPS CARE Charities, are proud to announce that the 5th Annual UMPS CARE Charities Golf Classic has raised over $75,000 for children in need.

NNDS and SlateXP are proud to support the ongoing work of UMPS CARE Charities, the official charity of Major League Baseball umpires. The funds raised at the Golf Classic ensure that umpires will be able to host more than 12 events at children's hospitals and over 100 games at MLB parks across the country in the coming season.

"The National Network of Digital Schools and SlateXP are valued partners of UMPS CARE Charities, and we couldn't do this without their support," said Jim Reynolds, a Major League umpire for the past ten seasons and a member of the Board of Directors of UMPS CARE Charities. "Especially in this down economy, the generosity of supporters like NNDS and SlateXP is much needed and appreciated."

Relying solely on donated funds from organizations like NNDS and SlateXP to operate, UMPS CARE Charities helps children coping with cancer and other serious illness, as well as children from single parent households or those awaiting adoption, by providing them with a unique way to participate in the world of Major League baseball. In addition to the Annual Golf Classic, the organization works tirelessly year round to raise money through other events and generous supporters, efforts which are an integral part to sustaining and creating additional opportunities for children.

"NNDS and SlateXP are thrilled to be able to support UMPS CARE Charities and, through their efforts, children in need across America," said George Pacinda, general manager of NNDS. "For kids who have to face difficult realities every day, UMPS CARE Charities offers a fun, special escape into one of our favorite pastimes – baseball."

NNDS, through the software platform provided by SlateXP, offers services that enable schools to respond to the unique demands of 21st century learners, such as online curriculum options for children in grades K - 12.
