WASHINGTON, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Medical Association (NMA) announced the appointment of Byron Sogie-Thomas, M.S., as Director of Health Policy. As Director of Health Policy, Mr. Sogie-Thomas will be responsible for advising the leadership of the NMA on emerging healthcare trends and current policy issues. He will also assume overall responsibility for articulating the NMA's views on state and federal law, regulation, and policy.
"Byron's knowledge of the issues and familiarity with the organization make him the most suitable candidate to direct our health policy and advocacy efforts, especially at this critical time in our history," said NMA Executive Director, Dr. Mohammad Akhter.
Mr. Sogie-Thomas' accomplishments at the NMA have included maintaining NMA's strategic partnerships in the policy arena, preparing NMA leaders for public policy statements and appearances, and significantly increasing the number of trained advocates among the organization's membership.
