National Medical Association Appoints New Director of Extern...( WASHINGTON Oct. 10 -- The Nation...),Health

WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Medical Association (NMA) announced the appointment of Alisa Mosley, M.A. as the Director of External Affairs.

"Alisa has done a terrific job as the acting director over the past four months and members of the Board of Trustees along with me are delighted she accepted the position," said Mohammad Akhter, M.D., MPH Executive Director of the National Medical Association.

In the position as the Director of External Affairs, Ms. Mosley will be responsible for developing and implementing strategy to maintain the organization's visibility to the media, policy makers, and advocates. Prior to becoming the Director of External Affairs, Ms. Mosley served as the Associate Director of Communications for six years, where she managed the quarterly consumer magazine, Healthy Living, the association's web site and public relations activities. "NMA has been a leader in bringing about health equity to all patients and I look forward to raising its visibility both nationally and globally," said Ms. Mosley.

Ms. Mosley, a native of Rochester, New York received her Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in communication from Howard University in Washington, DC.

Founded in 1895, the National Medical Association is the nation's oldest and largest medical association representing the interests of more than 30,000 African-American physicians and their patients. The NMA repeatedly advocates for policies that would assure equitable and quality health care for all people.
