National Kidney Month 2010: Stories of Hope About the Prevention and Maintenance of Kidney Disease from The Kidney TRUST

The Kidney TRUST, a non-profit organization dedicated to chronic kidney disease (CKD) prevention, as well as providing financial assistance to people already on dialysis, is observing National Kidney Month by reaching out to people affected by kidney disease to ask for their personal stories relating to this problem that affects 31 million Americans. Personal stories from those who have been touched by kidney disease will be featured on the TRUST’s website at www.kidneytrust.org through the month.

(PRWEB) March 1, 2010 -- The Kidney TRUST, a non-profit organization dedicated to chronic kidney disease (CKD) prevention, as well as providing financial assistance to people already on dialysis, is observing National Kidney Month by reaching out to people affected by kidney disease to ask for their personal stories relating to this problem that affects 31 million Americans.

Personal stories from those who have been touched by kidney disease will be featured on the TRUST’s website at www.kidneytrust.org through the month. In asking the public to contribute their own stories, the TRUST is asking for help in spreading the word about kidney disease and the importance of early detection and treatment.

The good news is that kidney disease can be delayed or prevented if caught early. The Kidney TRUST’s rapid-screening program, which has reached almost 13,000 people since its launch in October 2007, has the potential to save lives.

According to one screening participant in Colorado, “It was a real wake-up call to me. I went to the doctor soon after I got the test result and was told that I needed to cut down on my salt intake, get more exercise, and eat a healthier diet. I chang
