List Ranks Health Systems On Efficiency

FLINT, Mich., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The SDI Top 100, an annual list that ranks the most efficient and integrated health care systems in the nation has ranked Flint-based McLaren Health Care the top-rated health system in Michigan, and among the top 25 health systems in the nation, placing it 16th on this year's list.

McLaren has been ranked in the top 25 of SDI's Top 100 [formerly known as the Verispan top 100] since 1999. Two thousand nine marks the 12th year the organization has created the list.

We're proud to have been recognized as one of the most efficient, highly performing health care providers in the nation," said McLaren Health Care President and CEO Philip A. Incarnati. "We work hard to leverage the strength, knowledge and cutting-edge care we provide at our eight hospitals and Great Lakes Cancer Institute campuses system-wide to provide the best care for our patients. We're thrilled that this work continues to rank us as one of the best health care systems in the nation."

SDI's ranking system evaluates integrated health care systems on this performance and degree of integration. Its ratings are based on how a health care system operates as a unified organization in eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, service and access, hospital utilization and physicians.
