National Eczema Association Anoints Theraplex Child-Friendly Eczema Products with Seal of Acceptance
Date:1/13/2009

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Eczema Association (NEA) awarded its Seal of Acceptance to Theraplex Emollient and Theraplex Clear Lotion.

The NEA Seal of Acceptance is part of the association's Eczema & Sensitive-Skin Education (EASE) program, which is intended to improve the quality of life for children and adults who suffer from eczema and sensitive skin.

"These products met our criteria for having no irritating ingredients and being suitable for pediatric patients with eczema," said Julie Block, National Eczema Association vice president. "Our Review Panel members considered the clinical studies carefully and some even sampled the products themselves. Theraplex received an EASE rating of 5 out of 5 possible points because these products do not contain known irritants to eczema or sensitive skin at any level."

With the NEA's Seal of Acceptance, these Theraplex products are now included in the easeeczema.org website, which educates eczema sufferers and caregivers about products that can improve skin health and quality of life.

"We are very proud of this special designation because it recognizes our products' effectiveness in restoring the skin's moisture -- a daily battle for the 10 percent of children in the U.S. who suffer from eczema and their parents," said Michael Pietrangelo, Managing Partner of The Theraplex Company, LLC. "Clinical studies have shown that Theraplex prevents or stops the vicious cycle of persistent dry skin by delivering moisture deep into the epidermis, restoring skin health so it can resist moisture loss."

"To keep skin moist, pediatric eczema patients encounter moisturizers containing fragrances or allergy-triggering fillers and additives," explained Pietrangelo. "Our products are hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic and fragrance free, making them ideal for children."

Theraplex moisturizers combine an enriched special petrolatum fraction developed by Swiss scientist, Dr. H.R. Suess, with a unique hydrosilicone delivery system. This process eliminates 82 percent of the greasiness associated with petrolatum while maintaining superior moisturizing and skin protectant properties. As a result, Theraplex moisturizers penetrate deep into the skin where moisture is needed most.

Theraplex moisturizers are sold at drug stores, but not in the retail section. They are available from pharmacists behind the pharmacy counter at stores such as Walgreens, Rite-Aid, CVS, Costco and independent pharmacies. Or order online at www.Theraplex.com. No prescription necessary. Samples are available free to pediatricians.
