National Climate Organizations Join Forces In Historic Push For Climate and Clean Energy Solutions
Date:3/5/2010

Both Founded by Al Gore, The Climate Project unites with The Alliance for Climate Protection to form a global campaign representing millions of people to affect bold action on climate change.

Washington, DC and Nashville, TN (PRWEB) March 5, 2010 -- Signaling the historic opportunity before us to transition to a clean energy economy and heal the planet, the Alliance for Climate Protection and The Climate Project, two organizations founded by Nobel Laureate and former Vice President Al Gore, announced today that they are officially uniting their programs and activities under the Alliance for Climate Protection, which will strengthen their existing campaigns and initiatives. The combination brings together the Alliance’s more than 5 million members and supporters with The Climate Project’s global reach resulting in one of the largest non-profit educational and advocacy organizations focused singularly on climate protection issues in the world. The unified organization will now encompass: official branches in 8 countries; more than 200 staff working in 30 offices across the United States; more than 3000 volunteers personally trained by Vice President Gore in 55 countries who have raised awareness amongst a growing global community of more than 7 million people.

“By combining the best practices and proud histories of these two organizations into one powerful unified voice for change, we will be able to do more than ever before to affect bold action in support of solutions to the climate crisis and a transition to a global clean energy economy,” said Maggie L. Fox, President and CEO of The Alliance for Climate Protection. “We are pleased to be joining forces at this critical time in our movement to solve the climate crisis.”
