National Case Management Week Resolution Introduced in Senate
Date:8/12/2013

Little Rock, AR (PRWEB) August 12, 2013

The Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and the American Case Management Association (ACMA) announced on August 2 that Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) and Senator John Boozman (R-AR) have introduced S. Res. 214, a resolution declaring the week of October 13-19, 2013 as National Case Management Week. This event recognizes the value of case management in providing quality and cost-effective healthcare, as well as encourages the people of the United States to observe National Case Management Week and learn about the field of case management.

The American Case Management Association and Case Management Society of America joined in asking Senators Pryor and Boozman to introduce the Resolution. National Case Management Week will give the health care industry, including CMSA and ACMA, the opportunity to celebrate case managers and the field of case management, and to educate consumers, providers, payers, and regulators about the value case managers bring to the successful delivery of healthcare. ACMA and CMSA appreciate the work of Senator Pryor and Senator Boozman, who contributed to the introduction of this resolution.

“Case managers are vital to our healthcare system,” Pryor said. “I was proud to join Senator Boozman to introduce this resolution and give these individuals the recognition they deserve.”

The resolution also states that “case managers are advocates who help patients understand their current health status and ways to improve their health, and in this way serve as catalysts that guide patients and provide cohesion with other professionals in the healthcare delivery team.”

“All Americans deserve access to quality and affordable health care. Case managers play a critical role in providing patients the information they need to make responsible decisions about their health care. We can be proud of their efforts to improve the delivery of services and care to all patients," Boozman said.

CMSA and ACMA look forward to observing National Case Management Week in October along with case managers and the American public.
