Erie Insurance among 52 Companies Recognized for Promoting Healthy

ERIE, Pa., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Business Group on Health, a national non-profit organization of large employers, recently honored Erie Insurance for its commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging a healthy lifestyle for its employees and families.

Erie Insurance was among 52 employers that received the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award at the Leadership Summit sponsored by the National Business Group on Health's (NBGH) Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity. Erie Insurance received a Gold award for its Healthy Directions program. This is the second time Erie has received an award.

Erie Insurance's worksite wellness program, Healthy Directions, was established to provide employees with the means to lead healthier lives. These include lunchtime and after-hours exercise classes, indoor and outdoor walking programs, corporate discounts to fitness facilities, lunch and learn programs, and workday stretch breaks.
