Data Recognition Corporation Among 52 Companies Recognized for Promoting

Healthy Workplace

MAPLE GROVE, Minn., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Business Group on Health, a national non-profit organization of large employers, today honored Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) for its commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy workplace and encouraging a healthy lifestyle for its employees and families.

DRC was among 52 employers that received the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award at the Leadership Summit sponsored by the National Business Group on Health's (NBGH) Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity. DRC received a Silver Award for its Healthy Measures Program.

"DRC places a high-value on the health and well-being of our employees and their families. We are very proud that the program we've created is being recognized for its excellence at the national-level," said Data Recognition Corporation's President and CEO, Susan Engeleiter. "I applaud our employees for their involvement and strong commitment to managing and improving their health and wellness."

DRC's "Healthy Measures" program, led by a health and wellness committee comprised of employees from across all areas and levels of the company, strives to build a culture of health and wellness by providing awareness, programs, tools, and an environment that supports and promotes healthy life choices. The program components include Disease Management programs, an Employee Assistance Program, a nurse hot line, health risk assessments, biometric screenings, personal health coaching, prenatal support services, on-site fitness centers, subsidized on-site massage, fitness classes, and Weight Watcher's, as well as targeted physical activity and nutrition programs. All of these components combine to create a culture in which DRC employees are able to make educated choices that will positively affect their personal health and wellbeing.

"We are very pleased to honor DRC for their innovation and commitment to providing lifestyle improvement programs designed to encourage healthier lifestyles for their employees," said Helen Darling, President of the NBGH. "DRC and its management team should be proud of both their initiatives and ongoing support of helping employees to choose a healthier way of life."

Now in its fourth year, the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards acknowledge and reward those employers that recognize the urgent need to improve their workers' health, productivity and quality of life. The underlying goal of the program is to serve as a catalyst to encourage all employers to take action.

Winners of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards were honored in one of three categories: Platinum, for established programs with measurable outcomes; Gold, for creating cultural and environmental changes that support employees who have made a commitment to long-term behavior changes; and Silver, for those employers who have launched significant programs or services to promote living a healthier lifestyle.
