National Autism Association Receives Generous Donation to Fund More Counties With Project Lifesaver Equipment
Date:8/6/2008

NIXA, Mo., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Autism Association announced today that its recently launched FOUND program has received an anonymous $15,000 donation to fund additional counties with Project Lifesaver equipment.

Project Lifesaver is a nationwide tracking program established to quickly locate and rescue missing persons, namely those with cognitive impairments and developmental disabilities. The program has a 100% recovery rate.

"With the increase in disappearances and wandering-related deaths among children and adults with autism, Project Lifesaver equipment is critically needed in every county," says NAA President Wendy Fournier. "All disabled individuals prone to wandering deserve access to Project Lifesaver services and this very generous donation will help save lives -- everyone at NAA is extremely grateful."

Since 1999, over 1700 missing persons have been found through Project Lifesaver. NAA hopes to eventually provide Project Lifesaver funds to every county in the nation.

NAA has also created fundraising tools for communities that wish to raise funds in their own counties for Project Lifesaver. To download these tools or make a tax-deductible donation to The FOUND Program through NAA, visit http://www.nationalautism.org. Donors have a choice to adopt an entire county for $6800 or a partial county for any given amount.
