Nashville's eDoc4u Signs Partnership Agreement With Saint Thomas Health Services
Date:4/1/2009

eDoc4u will provide its comprehensive preventive care web service to STHS members and employees. eDoc4u's customized, culturally competent recommendations and online video counseling empower and motivate individuals to improve their health and safety.

Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) April 1, 2009 -- Thanks to a new partnership with eDoc4u, all eligible members and employees of Saint Thomas Health Services (STHS) will now have access to the tools and resources they need to manage and improve their health, with a focus on preventive care. Nashville-based eDoc4u private labels and integrates its health preventive care web services with providers, health plans and employers. Currently, the company supports hundreds of client sites, reaching millions of members.

The multi-year agreement, effective Jan. 19, 2009, provides STHS employer group members and employees with access to eDoc4u's full suite of web-based services: health risk assessments, disease risk indices, preventive care plans, personal health records and online health coaching. eDoc4u's easy-to-use medical web service presents members with personalized scores for disease risk, specific prevention recommendations and culturally competent "trusted physician" video counseling.

"The eDoc4u team is proud to be working with such an esteemed organization as Saint Thomas Health Services. We look forward to providing STHS members with the tools they need for disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, self-care and injury prevention," said eDoc4u president Richard J. Smith. "On a larger scale, we're excited that preventive care is finally receiving the attention it needs, as President Obama's health care plan puts a strong focus on prevention, requiring that all preventive care services, such as physical exams, be covered by insurance."

The eDoc4u service not only educates people about their potential health risks, but it also allows individuals to easily take action after they have received their customized recommendations. For example, if a patient is told he should have a specific preventive care procedure, he can select the "schedule me" button on his computer screen. This functionality allows the member to be moved into the preventive care system of Saint Thomas Health Services.

"At Saint Thomas Health Services, we have long applauded resources that result in more informed, educated health care consumers. Providing our members and employees with eDoc4u's comprehensive service is something we're really excited about, as we all look to optimize health while lowering overall costs," said Jason Dinger, vice president, STHS Ventures. "We're especially pleased with the culturally competent recommendations the service delivers, along with the fact that the system encourages patients to seek out preventive care instead of waiting until conditions develop or become serious."

STHS is a part of Ascension Health, the largest not-for-profit health care system in the United States. STHS's family of hospitals includes Saint Thomas and Baptist Hospitals in Nashville, Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro and Hickman Community Hospital in Centerville.
