NY Times Bestselling Author Dr. Eben Alexander to Speak at Sofia University

Sofia University (formerly Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) will host “An Evening with Eben Alexander,” on Wednesday, June 19, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Author of NY Times bestseller, "Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey through the Afterlife," and currently one of the most sought after motivational speakers around the world, Dr. Alexander has appeared on Oprah, Larry King Live, and the Jeff Probst Show.

Scientist and physician, Dr. Eben Alexander, spent years honing his scientific world view, until a rare illness left him in a coma. Seven days later he awoke from a transcendental near-death experience with new insights documented in his book, Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife. In his book, Dr. Alexander recounts his near-death experience (NDE), its profound lessons, and the complete revision of everything he has come to believe about science, consciousness, spirituality, and the very nature of all existence.

This special event is part of a new Public Programs department at Sofia University, comprised of arts programs, talks/lectures, academic certificate programs, and other public events. Sofia University plans to further engage the external community through the public programs initiative, led by Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Tracy Byars. Byars commented, “Eben Alexander is exactly the kind of speaker we hope to feature more often as part of our Public Programs. He is increasing public awareness of topics such as near-death experience and the power of our minds to overcome adversity – topics that scholars at Sofia University have been studying for over 35 years.”

The event is expected to draw attendees from all over the greater Bay Area, as well as interested students, faculty members and alumni. At the event, Alexander will meet with attendees at a VIP Reception, speak on his experiences, and sign copies of
