STORY SUMMARY:

On Thursday December 6, 2007 football legend John Madden and members of the Senate will be on Capitol Hill to encourage Congress to renew the Special Diabetes Program and avoid a 35% cut in type 1 diabetes research. Madden, whose 6-year old grandson, Sam, has type 1 diabetes, will ask the House and Senate to take action on this program this year. Legislation to renew the program has been introduced in the House (H.R. 2762) and Senate (S. 1494) with 212 and 44 cosponsors, respectively.
