N.J. Hospitals: Governor's Budget Makes Right Choices on Healthcare
Date:3/10/2009

PRINCETON, N.J., March 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement of Betsy Ryan, President and CEO of the New Jersey Hospital Association:

"We are pleased that Gov. Corzine has recognized the importance of healthcare in a difficult budget. Faced with tough choices, the Governor made the right one when he prioritized spending for charity care in this budget. The number of uninsured seen by hospitals is increasing as the economy worsens, and this funding is critical to maintain access to care -- not just for the uninsured but for all New Jerseyans.

"We thank Gov. Corzine for recognizing healthcare spending for the working poor uninsured as a priority in a difficult budget environment. We look forward to working with the Governor and the Legislature in this budget process."
