Earlier this month I was at the FAIA (Florida’s IIABA chapter) trade fair at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. As I mentioned before the Big – I is intent on getting back personal lines market share from the captives and direct writers alike. They also desire continued on-line domination in commercial lines. The Project CAP program has been in existence for about 9 months and I was privileged to sit in on a progress presentation by the CEO Scott Deetz during the trade fair. The focus is a coordinated web presence, i.e. local and organic SEO efforts for Trusted Choice agents, at the same time redesigning the Trusted Choice consumer portal to be a true multi-rater interface vs. just an agency directory. The platform will also offer mobile applications and social media campaigns for all Trusted Choice agents. It was very impressive. Considering there are 22000 Trusted Choice agencies with 27000 locations and over 300,000 producers, all promising and delivering real choices to the on line insurance consumer, it should not take them long to achieve a big nationwide presence on the web.
Also recently this month, the National PIA has endorsed a similar marketing platform for its membership called Insurance Agoragate. In my opinion it’s not as large or as comprehensive as the Big-I’s project CAP initiative, but it will get the job done when it comes to getting its independent agency members back on page one for local searches for insurance by on-line shoppers.
These independent agency marketing platforms will make it more difficult and expensive for the captive companies to be found and selected for local searches; and they both go a long way in offering consumers something that the captive carriers simply can’t, i.e. a real comparative shopping experience between insurance companies that utilize the independent agency distribution channel. While both Project CAP and Insurance Agoragate are great internet marketing platforms for their respective agency members, they both unfortunately fall short in giving consumers what they ultimately want.
As we mentioned before, consumers want total control of the on line comparative shopping experience. They want to submit a single quote request to any combination of local agents and carriers they chose. Obviously as good as these non-profit endorsed platforms are, neither allows consumers to selectively compare the captive carriers to those offered through the independent agency channel. Only MyTownInsurance.com offers that benefit, InsuranceAgents.com doesn’t, NetQuote.com doesn’t; no one else does what MyTownInsurance.com does! Power to the consumer!
MyTownInsurance.com………because local is better!
