Muscular Development Store Responds to Success of CLA Pre-Workout Supplement

On March 18, 2013 the Muscular Development Store issues a response to announcements that conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a mainstay in “the global weight-management market,” is set to break into the food and beverages sector in 2013.

According to a recent article in Food Navigator USA, “[n]umerous studies have shown that CLA can help reduce body fat, maintain lean muscle mass and improve body composition.”

The article quotes various analysts who suggest that CLA is a “missed mass market opportunity” for the food and drink markets, but that “signs are positive” that the product will see “greater penetration” in 2013 and 2014. This is attributed to the “product development timelines” of particular high-profile companies “which are currently working on formulations.”

Although CLA has been popular on the pre-workout supplements market for some years, “CLA has a much shorter history in food and beverages, having only received GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status in 2008,” reports Food Navigator USA.

“Coupling protein with CLA in formulations is a very big idea,” said one analyst, adding that 78 percent of consumers “say protein helps build and maintain muscle,” while 68 percent “believe protein helps increase lean muscle mass.”

Brian Turner, representative for the Muscular Development Store, says the time is ripe for CLA to break out of the supplements industry. “The market data shows that CLA produces a positive outcome in terms of body shaping and muscle building.
