Murse World Helps University of Illinois Nursing Students Attend National Conference
Date:4/8/2013

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 08, 2013

Thanks in-part to support from men’s scrubs store Murse World, nursing students at the University of Illinois at Chicago recently attended the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) Annual Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Members of UIC’s NSNA chapter previously held a raffle to help raise the funds necessary to send a student delegation to the organization’s annual conference. During the week-long event, these students represented their school in advocating for health care changes while attending workshops to develop themselves into professional nurses. According to senior nursing student Kyle Peterson, the on-campus professional group strives toward the professional development of future Registered Nurses through resources, leadership opportunities, and volunteerism.

As part of its commitment to advancing nursing education, Murse World was grateful for the opportunity to be among the companies who helped sponsor the UIC raffle. “We believe we have a corporate responsibility to give back to the nursing community and that the best way to do this is by supporting those students who represent nursing’s future,” said company co-founder Scott Topiol, himself a Registered Nurse.

While Murse World’s primary focus is on its retail operations, over the past year the company has sought to use its growing influence to help promote nursing as a men’s profession. Last year the company entered into a strategic partnership with the American Assembly for Men in Nursing (AAMN) and in conjunction with the non-profit AAMN Foundation, recently established a men’s nursing education scholarship.

Any excess funds raised by the UIC group will be used to help fund its local community service efforts.
