Event to Highlight the Amazing Contributions of John Price, an Influential

Member of the YMCA for More Than 50 Years

PLEASANT HILL, Calif., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mt. Diablo Region YMCA will host the 28th Annual Boosters Gala on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Diablo Country Club located in Diablo. The evening will include a celebration of the 50 years of community service the Y has provided throughout Contra Costa County. One of the many highlights of the event will be a presentation and toast celebrating John Price, a dedicated and influential member of the Y for more than 50 years. The Gala will start at 6:30 pm with cocktails and a silent auction, followed by dinner, a live auction and dancing.

The event will spotlight the special life of John Price, who has been a loyal member of the Y since 1955. As a 12 year old, John began his Y adventure, earning a scholarship to attend the YMCA summer camp at Gualala. He then worked for the Berkeley facility after graduating from the University of California in 1940. He later served as the Executive Secretary of the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA in the early 1950's. John was then elected to the Board of Directors and served from 1973-75. As Membership Chairman, John played a pivotal role in the search and implementation of new members. His commitment in helping the Mt. Diablo Region YMCA grow into the community exemplifies the continued dedication that members have shared in the past 50 years.

In the last 27 years, the Y has hosted the Boosters Gala to benefit specific programs within the YMCA. All net proceeds from this year's event will be donated
