More Than 13,000 Home Healthcare Workers Protest Governor's Budget Cuts
Date:6/12/2008

Union members gather to call, write letters to Schwarzenegger expressing their outrage

SAN FRANCISCO, June 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An unprecedented number of home healthcare workers will rally to protest Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed cuts to their hours of service, wages and benefits. These dramatic reductions would force some of California's most vulnerable workers and the people they serve deeper into poverty. It also will force many clients into nursing homes prematurely. Workers and their supporters will write letters and make phone calls urging the governor to lay down his budget ax and pledge to save these vital services for seniors and people with disabilities.

These rallies will take place simultaneously in San Francisco, Sacramento and Fresno.

WHAT: Rally, phone calling and letter-writing campaign to protest governor's budget cuts to home healthcare workers

WHO: 2,100 home healthcare workers, their clients and community supporters

WHEN: Saturday, June 14, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.

WHERE: Civic Center Plaza, 1 Carlton B. Goodlett Place
