Missouri Hospice & Palliative Care Association Recognizes Volunteers in Hospice With 'Heart of Hospice Awards Luncheon'

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On April 1, 2009, Hospices around the state gathered in Jefferson City, Missouri to honor all those individuals that volunteer in Hospice. The association honors winners in the following categories: Program, Employee, Administrative Volunteer, Patient Care Volunteer and Lifetime Achievement. This year for the first time the Association recognized a Visionary Award Winner (an individual not directly connected to Hospice but has given vision and leadership in Hospice). The Keynote Speaker for the event was Margaret Donnelly, Director of the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services. The award winners included: Program Award Winner - BJC Hospice in St. Louis; Employee Award Winner - Kathy Fetters, Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care in Kansas City; Administrative Volunteer Award Winner - Fran, Flo & Joe Kostelnik, Pathways Community Hospice in Chesterfield; Patient Care Volunteer Award Winner - Ken Klindworth, St. John's Mercy Hospice in St. Louis; Lifetime Achievement Award Winner - Jesse Roberts, MD, NorthCare Hospice & Palliative Care in North Kansas City; and Visionary Award Winner - William H. Colby, Senior Fellow, Law and Patient Rights, Center for Practical Bioethics in Kansas City. We would like to thank our winners and all the Hospice Volunteers for the vital role they play in Hospice.
