Bloom has served in the nursing field for more than 40 years, and her research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals, including Clinical Excellence for Nurse Practitioners, Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing and Nursing Research. In addition to her contributions to the clinical and research fields, Bloom has also taught in the university setting for 30 years. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the University of North Florida's Outstanding Faculty Service Award, Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and the Teaching Recognition Award, as well as the Florida Nurses Association's Great 100 Nurses Award. In addition to NPWH, Bloom is a member of several distinguished organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau (the International Honor Society of Nursing), the Florida Nurses Association and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing.

Michele S. Bednarzyk, MN, FNP-BC

Michele Bednarzyk, MN, FNP-BC, is an instructor at the University of North Florida School of Nursing in Jacksonville, Florida. She served as co-author with Kathaleen Bloom, PhD, CNM, on the winning abstract entry, "Obstetric Screening Practices of Advanced Practice Nurses: Results of a Pilot Study."

Bednarzyk has worked in the nursing field for 27 years in both the clinical and research settings, and has served as a Graduate Faculty member at the University of North Florida School of Nursing since 1998. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Allied Health and Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing. Bednarzyk is also an active member of several distinguished nurse practitioner groups, including the NE Florida Advanced Practice Council, AWHONN, Sigma Theta Tau (the International Honor Society of Nursing) and NONPF.
