Milkscreen Home Test for Alcohol in Breast Milk Begins Nationwide Sales at Walgreens
Date:2/3/2009

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- UpSpring Baby(TM) today announced that its Milkscreen(TM) home test for alcohol in breast milk is now available for purchase over-the-counter at over 6,000 Walgreens drugstores across the U.S. Walgreens is the nation's largest drugstore chain and the first brick and mortar drugstore to carry the Milkscreen home test. Milkscreen is also available for purchase through other leading national retailers and independents.

The American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) recommends that women exclusively breastfeed their infants for the first six months and support breastfeeding for the first year and beyond if mutually desired by mother and child. For women that want to partake in occasional alcohol use during this extended period of time, Milkscreen provides a valuable tool to tell them when it is best to breastfeed baby after consuming alcohol. To perform the test, a woman simply expresses a few drops of breast milk onto the Milkscreen test strip and in less than two minutes the color will begin to change if there is alcohol in the breast milk.

"With breastfeeding on the rise in the U.S., Milkscreen helps educate women about their bodies while reducing the disposal of perfectly good breast milk," said Julie Jumonville, Milkscreen inventor and founder of UpSpring Baby. "With Milkscreen now on the shelves at Walgreens nationwide we are giving our customers added convenience as well as peace of mind."

Milkscreen will be located in the Baby Aisle at Walgreens and available online at www.walgreens.com. Suggested retail price for Milkscreen is $5.99 for a 3-pack of test strips and $14.99 for a 12-pack of test strips. Milkscreen is made and manufactured in the U.S.
