Michigan Hospitals Receive Governor's Award

The Governor's Award is based on clinical data for the 2006 calendar year. While the Governor and MPRO have partnered to honor hospitals since 2003, this marks the first time that the Governor has recognized the very top performing Michigan hospitals in the areas related to the Governor's Award for Improving Patient Safety and the Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting and Critical Access Hospital Setting. 18 hospitals were selected as the top performers in each award topic and received special recognition from Governor Granholm.

The Governor's Award has been enthusiastically supported by a variety of Michigan organizations and professional associations including: American Lung Association of Michigan; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; Ford Motor Company; General Motors; Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society-Michigan; Michigan Critical Access Hospitals Quality Network; Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants; Michigan Association for Healthcare Quality; Michigan Association of Health Plans; Michigan Center for Rural Health; Michigan College of Emergency Physicians; Michigan Health and & Safety Coalition; Michigan Health Council; Michigan Health Information Management Association; Michigan Infectious Disease Society; Michigan Nurses Association; Michigan Osteopathic Association; Michigan Pharmacists Association; Michigan Rural Health Association; Michigan Society for Infection Control; Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists; Michigan Thoracic Society; Michigan State Medical Society; and the Upper Peninsula Telehealth Network of Michigan.
