MiLife Proven to Boost Vitality of Unilever Employees Using Smart Affordable Technology

BEDFORD, England, January 21 /PRNewswire/ -- MiLife Coaching Limited announces the publication of their third trial of their biometric and online physical activity and weight management coaching system to boost employee health and productivity in the Journal of Medical Internet Research.

MiLife is an automated, highly-personalised web and device based weight loss and physical activity management system. It incorporates biofeedback and the revolutionary adaptive behaviour change component - the Idapt(TM) engine.

According to the World Health Organization, 1.6 billion adults globally are overweight and at least 400 million are obese. WHO projects that by 2015, 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and over 700 million obese. As a result the healthcare costs for companies and governments from increasing incidents of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease will be staggering.

"This trial has shown remarkable results in terms of user engagement and efficacy," said Ciaran McCourt, CEO, MiLife (previously CEO eDiets (NASDAQ: DIET)); founder of eDiets Europe). "No other technology engages and motivates users to get more active and to lose weight with such success. We have shown 84% of the 211 employees lost weight in the first 3 months, with around a quarter losing a clinically significant 5% of body weight. Mean physical activity (moderate-high) was 173 minutes, which is highly significant in terms of health benefits. Overweight users using the program (BMI 25+) had an average weight loss of 3.7 kg (8.2lb). This ranks extremely well against trials undertaken on other commercial diets and is a real breakthrough in terms of smart preventative health technology."
