Bernstein Liebhard LLP is actively filing metal-on-metal hip replacement lawsuits in a multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, for actions involving the DePuy ASR hip implant. Those metal-on-metal devices were recalled by Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopaedics unit in August 2010, after they were found to have an unacceptably high failure rate.*** (In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner Jeffrey S. Grand is also serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the DePuy Pinnacle hip litigation now underway in the Northern District of Texas concerning the metal-on-metal DePuy Pinnacle hip device (In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. Pinnacle Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2244). According to a May 17th New York Times report, Johnson & Johnson announced that it will stop selling metal-on-metal hip implants, including the all-metal version of the Pinnacle hip that is the subject of these lawsuits.****

The Firm is also representing recipients of the Biomet M2a Magnum hip implant in a multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana (In re: Biomet M2a Magnum Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation – MDL No. 2391). Bernstein Liebhard LLP’s attorneys have also filed lawsuits on behalf of individuals affected by the Stryker hip recall for Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems in a multicounty litigation now moving forward in New Jersey Superior Court.
