Bernstein Liebhard LLP is actively filing metal-on-metal hip replacement lawsuits in a multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio, for actions involving the DePuy ASR hip implant. Those metal-on-metal devices were recalled by Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopaedics unit in August 2010, after they were found to have an unacceptably high failure rate.*** (In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. Grand is also serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the DePuy Pinnacle hip litigation now underway in the Northern District of Texas concerning the metal-on-metal DePuy Pinnacle hip device (In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. Pinnacle Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2244). According to a May 17th New York Times report, Johnson & Johnson announced that it will stop selling metal-on-metal hip implants, including the all-metal version of the Pinnacle hip that is the subject of these lawsuits.****
