Date:8/28/2013

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (PRWEB) August 29, 2013

Mercy College School of Education Professor, Dr. Sudha Ramaswamy, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for research and teaching at the University College of Education-Lower Austria.

The focus of Dr. Ramaswamy’s research in Austria will be to create bachelor’s and master’s level tracks targeting teaching children who have disabilities. Dr. Ramaswamy says her work at Mercy College, specifically in the areas of course development and accreditation, has prepared her for developing this important coursework in Austria. In addition, she says her research will strengthen the connection between Mercy College and the University College of Education-Lower Austria.

Dr. Ramaswamy says, "It is my hope that this Fulbright project will provide me with a unique opportunity to shape the scientific frameworks that will provide teacher candidates with the skills necessary to affect the best outcomes for all children. It is also my expectation that this project will increase the number of Mercy College faculty involved and committed to the international mission of the College, and serve as an example of the College’s commitment to professional development."

School of Education, Dean Dr. Alfred S. Posamentier, says, "We are very proud of Dr. Ramaswamy and wish her the very best. We are certain she will do her work with the fine expertise that she demonstrated here at Mercy College."
