Dobbs Ferry, New York (PRWEB) January 02, 2014
The Mercy College Board of Trustees elected Timothy L. Hall the 12th president of Mercy College. Currently President of Austin Peay State University, Dr. Hall will join Mercy College as President on May 13, 2014.
In making the announcement, Board Chairman and presidential search committee co-chair Gary Brown said: “Mercy College looks forward to working with Tim Hall. His achievements at Austin Peay and the University of Mississippi make him the right person to lead Mercy College. He embraces the College’s mission and history, and I am confident he will work collaboratively with our students, faculty and staff to forge a clear vision for the future that maximizes the many strengths and enormous potential of Mercy College.”
“President Hall’s passion for student and faculty success is a hallmark of his professional career. That, coupled with his leadership experience, will serve Mercy College well,” added Edward B. Dunn, former Board Chairman and co-chair of Mercy’s presidential search committee.
Under Hall’s leadership, Austin Peay State University experienced significant increases in enrollment and funding, and received distinctions in 2012 and 2013 as one of the Great Colleges to Work For by The Chronicle of Higher Education. In fact, in 2013 the Chronicle listed Austin Peay as one of ten large universities in the country—along with Stanford, Notre Dame and the University of Michigan—on the Honor Roll of Great Colleges to Work For.
Hall supervised the opening in 2008 of the Governor’s School for Computational Physics, a five-week summer residential program for talented high school students. He also cooperated with the local school system in the fall of 2008 to establish the Middle College at Austin Peay State University, a program for high school students who complete both high school and university credits on the campus of Austin Peay.
