Date:12/15/2008

NEW YORK, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WebMD Health Corp. (Nasdaq: WBMD), the leading source of health information, today announced that Medscape Physician Connect, the online social network designed for physicians to engage other physicians, has attracted more than 100,000 physicians since launching just this past April.

Medscape Physician Connect is part of Medscape.com, the leading site for physicians and healthcare professionals. Through Medscape Physician Connect, physicians have the ability to tap into their peer community through reading existing discussions, posting comments or creating new discussion topics. For further insights, physicians can create polls for other physicians to vote in for tailored, constructive feedback. The platform allows physicians to gain and exchange clinical and non-clinical information on topics ranging from patient care, drug information, medical legislation and practice management to non-clinical areas of interest.

"Medscape's Physician Connect builds on our more than 10 years of online community experience to provide physicians with a private online destination to communicate in areas ranging from clinical issues to politics," said Steve Zatz, M.D., Executive Vice President, Professional Services, WebMD.

Building off of Medscape's rich history of physician discussions, Medscape Physician Connect also features:

  • 30+ specialty and non-clinical areas covering clinical discussions, as well as other areas of interest including lifestyle/travel, business/practice management to politics/legislation and technology
  • Includes ability to create user polls for community feedback and upload images to enhance discussions
  • Star rating system for users to rank most interesting discussions in community
  • Ability to add interesting discussions to a 'watch list' to receive real-time in-session and email alerts when new comments are posted
  • Medscape's innovative video blogs with commentary from the country's leading medical experts
