Meditec Instructor and Student Nominated in Prestigious Medical Transcription Profession Awards

Two individuals from Meditec, a trademark of 360training.com, have been nominated for the 2014 Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) Awards. One nominee is Meditec’s medical transcription instructor, Audrey Kirchner, who is the sole nominee for both the Excellence in Credentialing and the Educator of the Year awards. Her student, Linda Curia, is also nominated for the Rising Star Award.

Audrey has worked in the medical transcription field for over 18 years in a wide-variety of roles, including being a transcriptionist and owning her own transcription service company. She also has a wealth of education experience, including developing curricula; producing continuing-education and instructional webinars for students; and teaching at a community college. Two years ago, she joined Meditec and redesigned its latest version of the medical terminology and medical transcription curricula. She was instrumental in making Meditec an AHDI-approved school.

With of Audrey’s contributions to the industry, the AHDI nominated her for the AHDI Excellence in Credentialing and Educator of the Year awards. The Excellence in Credentialing Award is given to a credentialed professional who have demonstrated a unique and measurable contribution to the medical transcription industry. The Educator of the Year Award recognizes a professional member who has distinguished himself or herself in medical transcription education, either as an educational program instructor, a contributor to AHDI educational initiatives or online or on-site continuing education programs instructor for AHDI members or the industry.

Meditec’s other nominee is Linda Curia, a student of Audrey’s and graduate the Medical Transcription program. After being laid off, Linda realized she wanted to take the opportunity to switch fields and learn a new skill. Towards the end of her program, she learned about the R
