Medicsight PLC Presents New Data at RSNA 2008 Further Supporting Relevance of Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) and Image Analysis Software in Early Colon Cancer Screening and Diagnosis
Date:12/3/2008

cal imaging today," said David Sumner, Chief Executive Officer of Medicsight PLC. "Based on our predicted growth in 2009 across all key markets, we feel confident that ColonCAD will stay on the fast track of image analysis software development. Based on average regulatory review timelines, Medicsight is anticipating an FDA decision on granting clearance for distribution early 2009. If granted clearance, widespread adoption of ColonCAD in the U.S. would be another tremendous step towards decreasing the rate of colon cancer deaths globally."

More than 60,000 medical and science professionals from around the world attending this year's RSNA can see demonstrations of Medicsight's ColonCAD software integrated into their partners' 3D advanced visualization workstations at the company's exhibition stand #4076 (South Building, Hall A).

Additional new data being released at the meeting from studies using Medicsight's ColonCAD will be presented on the following dates and time:

  • Abstract #SSA06-07: Virtual Colonoscopy: Feasibility of Radiographic Technologist Interpretation in Routine Clinical Practice - [November 30, 11:45 AM CST]. The study assessed the performance and learning curve of CAD assisted technologists interpreting virtual colonoscopy in practice.

  • Abstract #SSM10-04:Virtual Colonoscopy: Effect of CAD-assisted Reading Method and Use of Fecal Tagging on Radiographic Technologist Performance in Routine Clinical Practice - [December 3, 3:30 PM CST] The data from this study demonstrate CAD can also increase reader confidence and that performance is unaffected by review method or fecal tagging.

  • Abstract #SSM10-05: Influence of a CAR Software on Different Experienced Readers: Primary 3D Flythrough Approach versus 3D + CAR App
