Medicine-On-Time Partners With QuickMAR to Streamline Medication Management and Improve Patient Care

Beginning in the first quarter of 2010, MOT will integrate and distribute the QuickMAR e-charting software with its electronic medication management systems.

(PRWEB) January 26, 2010 -- Pharmacies serving assisted living and long-term care facilities will be able to more easily and accurately manage patient medications, with today’s announcement of a joint distribution agreement between Medicine-On-Time (MOT,) an industry leader in medication management systems, and Med Management Technology (MMT,) makers of the electronic medication administration record system QuickMAR.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2010, MOT will integrate and distribute the QuickMAR e-charting software with its electronic medication management systems (medicine-on-time.com/quickmar). “By bundling MOT and QuickMAR, pharmacies can offer more accurate and efficient service to their institutional customers with a single easy-to-use interface and increase profitability. Assisted living and long-term care facilities will discover cost savings through reduced staff time spent on med passes, streamlined record-keeping and reporting, and reduced risk of errors,” said Ian Salditch, Medicine-On-Time’s chief executive.

The MOT system includes software to manage critical patient and drug information, as well as a system for packaging the medicines. A predetermined supply of medicine is provided in a tray of blister packs, with each compartment containing all the pills a patient needs at a particular time of day. Both the plastic tray and each blister pack are labeled with information about each pill, including the patient’s name, the medications enclosed, and the times each drug is to be taken.

With the addition of the QuickMAR software to MOT’s offering, healthcare staff will be able to track the administration of medication dosages electronically as they make their rounds, resulting in reduced paperwork and more accurate record keeping. Most important, staff can spend less time administering medication and more time caring for patients.

“Federal and state regulators are pressing healthcare facility administrators to implement reliable electronic medication administration record (eMAR) systems,” noted Reed DeMordaunt, chief executive of Med Management Technology. “QuickMAR reduces paperwork and duplicative data entry, improves medical record accuracy and shortens staff time devoted to med passes by as much as 30 percent.”

Pharmacy customers of MOT will be able to access QuickMAR through the bundled interface and enjoy substantial savings on activation and subscription fees when they sign up their institutional customers for the new service.
