Medicalis Appoints Jonathan Darer, MD, as Chief Medical Officer

Medicalis, a leading developer of Enterprise Workflow solutions, announced the recent appointment of Jonathan Darer MD, MPH, as chief medical officer of the company. Dr. Darer is a well-known expert in clinical innovation, quality improvement and value-driven care.

The evidence-based clinical Decision Support Solution, through its partnership with leading content providers, integrates with all leading EMR/CPOE systems. Its comprehensive capabilities optimizes the EMR build process and provides the most flexible, extensible and configurable platform to deliver effective decision-support on in the least obtrusive manner for ordering physicians.

As the former chief innovation officer and director of the Institute for Advanced Application’s Center for Clinical Innovation in the Geisinger Healthcare System, Dr. Darer led the team in closing a quarter million evidence-based gaps in care which contributed more than $25 million in improved financial performance. Prior to Geisinger, he held numerous clinical and executive positions with Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Darer received a BA from Harvard in engineering and his MD from the University of Connecticut Medical School. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Oregon Health Sciences University (OSHU) and has done a postdoctoral internal medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins where he also earned an MPH. He is a widely published author throughout the United States including the New England Journal of Medicine and Journal of the American Medical Association.
