“Well, I didn’t think that I would have a stroke at this age,” said Yvette Cuttita, patient of Ellis Medicine and the face of its 2013 neuroscience marketing campaign. “I had a feeling that she was going through a stroke; it was hard for me to believe, being so young, but I immediately turned around and headed for Ellis Hospital,” said Yvette’s husband, Bob Cuttita.
The team at Ellis administered a clot-busting drug called tPA (tissue plasminogen activator) that stopped the stroke and prevented further physical damage. Yvette temporarily lost her ability to speak after the stroke, but because of the quick response of the Ellis team and ongoing therapy, she has regained her speech and continues to progress every day.
