The newly created startup launches several local Singapore medical guides in fields ranging from ophthalmology to orthopaedics and dermatology.
Built on the popular WordPress platform and working with local medical specialists, the company has built a comprehensive directory of recommended dermatologists, orthopaedic surgeons, ophthalmologists and ent specialists in Singapore. Visitors to the respective websites can also send their questions via the built-in enquiry forms directly to a medical specialist.
"When I googled for an orthopaedic specialist for my back pain problem, I realized many of the websites I visited in the search results belonged to the same clinic. Hence, our objective is to build a platform for people to easily search for local medical specialists - an unbiased list that allowed both the patient and clinic a fairer chance of finding each other", said Medical SG's marketing head Sophia Liew.
Medical SG's team of writers have also written an impressive list of carefully researched articles about common ailments in each discipline and the corresponding treatments and indicative costs in the republic.
The Orthopaedic Singapore website, for example, provides information about arthritis, back pain, knee pain, tennis elbow, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, carpal tunnel and more. Each article delves deeper into the subject, e.g. the arthritis article discusses the common types of arthritis, causes, how it is diagnosed and types of treatments - both medical and traditional methods.
On the other hand, LASIK Singapore provides detailed information about the LASIK procedure and including variations like Epi-LASIK. The website also discusses about the eligibility, risks and side effects, and also the indicative costs - collated from five local LASIK specialist surgery clinics in Singapore.
The Medical SG website also features a frequently updated blog that discusses a range of health issues, from dealing with smelly feet to dieting for a healthy hair.
"Our website traffic has been growing steadily. Being a startup with limited resources, we haven't done much marketing. Most of our visitors are referred through word of mouth, so we have to ensure that our articles are truly useful and good quality to keep these visitors coming back", said Sophia.
"We will be launching several more medical guides in the coming months. We are also in talks with related industry providers like clinic booking engines that allow patients to make appointments directly from the website", she continued.
