Medical marketing firm MCPR introduces Dr. Joel Buchalter for media interviews. Dr. Buchalter is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and a sports medicine specialist with a particular expertise in total joint replacement. Dr. Buchalter is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the NYU Langone Medical Center’s Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is a founding partner with Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group.

Bio: Joel S. Buchalter, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., F.A.C.S., has been in practice since 1988 and is a founding partner of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Group. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the NYU Langone Medical Center’s Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is also the Co-director of the Orthopaedic Institute at Putnam Hospital Center. Dr. Buchalter is on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in Mount Kisco, the NYU Langone Medical Center’s Hospital for Joint Diseases, and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel where he has served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Buchalter received his board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1990. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Buchalter graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering. He went on to earn his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in June of 1983 and completed his internship in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center. He then completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York where he was chosen to be Chief Resident from 1987-1988. During his final year in training, he completed a four month rotation in multiple trauma at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
