Mediaplanet and Actress Ilana Glazer Team Up to Raise Awareness for Sexual Wellness

Helping to conclude AIDS awareness month, Mediaplanet announces the launch of this December’s edition of “Sexual Wellness.” This campaign advocates for increased awareness surrounding the recent resurgence of STI’s, the importance of Sex Positivity, and how to better the lives of sexually active people around the country, alongside resources to turn to.

Fewer than 50% of all U.S. public and private high schools provided instruction on all 16 topics that the CDC considers essential for sexual health education. Despite the commonality of sexual behavior among many in the United States, sexual health is still something that is seen as uncouth to discuss, which leads to increasing rates of STI transmission, pregnancy, and miseducation due to stigma and shame.

The print component of “Sexual Wellness” is distributed within today’s edition of USA Today in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC/Baltimore markets, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 750,000. The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. Long-time Sex Positivity advocate Ilana Glazer graces the cover of the print publication. Through an exclusive interview with Mediaplanet, Ilana discusses that while her experiences and thought process discussing sex and sexuality are approached with positivity, she understands that it’s “up to the viewer” to make their own conclusions but hopes that her work “pushes them to think about themselves and get to know themselves better”. Since breaking the ice with her hit web-turned-television show Broad City which discusses sex with as equal parts important and nonchalant, Ilana has shown her dedication and commitment to continuing the conversation by using her voice and presence politically on behalf of sex education, reproductive rights, and pleasure among many others.
