Date:10/15/2009

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2009 News media and scientists interested in finance, entrepreneurships and the chemical sciences are invited to join an American Chemical Society (ACS) Small & Medium Business Webinar for an opportunity to learn about trends in the chemical industry that can impact jobs and businesses.

Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, 2 3 p.m. Eastern Time, the free webinar will feature Paul Hodges, chairman of International eChem and author of the well-regarded ICIS "Chemicals and the Economy'" blog.

The webinar's topic is "What you need to know about Chemistry and the Economy! Secrets to finding hidden opportunities."

Founded in 2001, International eChem has built a reputation as trusted commercial advisers to the global chemical industry and its investment community. Hodges is also serving as non-executive chairman of a fast-growing technology spin-out from Heriot Watt University, Scotland. He also was an executive director of a $1billion global business for Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), vice president of European Aromatics and Derivatives for DeWitt, and vice president of Europe for ChemConnect.

The ACS Small & Medium Business Webinar Series is scheduled monthly this year to address current topics of interest to entrepreneurs and small- to medium-sized businesses in the chemical/biopharma enterprise. There will be a 30-minute presentation by Hodges followed by a 25-minute Q & A session.
